Moving to a New City Where You Know Nobody

1.1k

I moved to a new city knowing absolutely nobody. The first few weeks were rough. Just me and my apartment walls, scrolling through a phone full of people who were hundreds of miles away.

Then I started going on walks. At first it was just to get out of the apartment. But then I started noticing people. Nodding at the regulars. Finding my favorite streets. The city slowly turned from a place I was stuck in into a place I actually lived in.

A city stops feeling lonely when you actually walk through it. And if you want to speed that up, walking is the easiest way to meet people walking nearby and find a walking community in a place that's still new to you.
