Five local spots where a group walk feels natural.

You meet at the bandstand in the heart of the park, an easy landmark a short stroll from the Cubbon Park metro station. Shaded avenues of bamboo and rain trees link into flat loops of three to five kilometers, so groups of mixed pace all find a comfortable circuit. Early mornings belong to walkers and runners and stay cool even in summer, and by late morning the light turns harsh. The lawns near the library make a good regroup point. Afterward, the cafes of Church Street are ten minutes on foot from the eastern gates.

You meet at the West Gate, the closest entrance to the Lalbagh metro station on the green line. Inside, a mostly flat loop of about three kilometers rings the lake and the Victorian glasshouse, with one short climb up the ancient rock hill for a view over the treetops. Dawn is the garden at its best, misty and full of regular walkers, while weekends get crowded after breakfast. Keep the group on the outer path for a steady rhythm. When you finish, the classic dosa halls of Basavanagudi are a short ride from the south side.

You meet at the Malleswaram-side gate of the lake, next to the entrance by the children's park. A paved promenade circles the water in a flat loop of about two kilometers, and herons and kingfishers work the shoreline while you talk. Sunrise brings the serious regulars and the best light on the water, while mid-morning is calmer if your group prefers space. The Sampige Road metro station is a ten-minute walk away, and the old South Indian coffee houses of Malleswaram make the natural finish line for the group.

You meet at the Kensington Road entrance to the lake, close to the Trinity metro station on the purple line. The shoreline path is flat and easy, curving past small islands and the boat club in a loop of roughly two and a half kilometers. Mornings are quiet, with rowing crews sliding across the water, while evenings bring office crowds and food carts near the gates. It is a forgiving route for first-time attendees. Afterward, walk ten minutes into the temple streets of Halasuru for strong coffee and snacks.

You meet at the main gate on Sarjapur Road, by the noticeboard where the lake trust posts its updates. A soft mud track loops the wetland in about two flat kilometers, with wooden decks over the reed beds where the group can pause to watch pelicans and cormorants. Early morning is the birding hour and the coolest part of the day, and weekday evenings fill with neighborhood walkers. There is little shade at midday, so plan around it. Cafes and juice bars line Sarjapur Road for the group afterward.
