Your pin is shifted on the map
A walk's pin on the map is never dropped on its exact spot. Walk With Me shifts the marker by up to two hundred meters (one hundred for a live walk), and that offset stays fixed for the whole walk, so refreshing the map or comparing notes with someone else never narrows it down. While you walk, your live precise location goes only to the people you accepted. You stay easy to find for the walkers you have agreed to meet, without broadcasting exactly where you are standing to everyone else.
The host decides who joins
Being on the map does not mean anyone can just show up. Walks are join by request by default: someone asks, and the host decides yes or no, unless the host has chosen to auto-accept. Only walkers you approve can follow your live, precise location once the walk starts, and you can remove someone mid-walk if you need to. It puts a human gate between a stranger and your walk, which is the difference between an open invitation and a walk you actually control.
A check-in so your pin never lingers
Longer walks come with a check-in. When a walk you are hosting runs past its planned time, the app asks whether you are still walking: say yes and your approximate location keeps sharing for another hour, or finish the walk and it comes off the map. A grace window means a good detour or a slow coffee does not cut anything off early. Spaces that fit who you are
Sometimes the safest walk is one scoped to your own people. When you create a walk you can make it Women Only, Men Only, or LGBTQ plus only, and the app checks each joiner's profile gender, which can only be set once, before they can see or join it.
