Every stop on every tour is geocoded to an actual place, and the walking route between them comes from live routing data. You get a real distance and a real walking time, not a guess.
When you start a tour in the app you choose Just me, With a friend, or Others can join. Open it up and the tour shows on the map as a walk people nearby can ask to join, so you are not reading about a route any more, you are walking it with other people.
A self-guided tour is a solo activity by default. This one does not have to be. The same route, the same stops, with company that showed up for exactly the same reason you did.
Every route's map, stops, distance and walking time are free to see in the app, with nothing to book. When you want the story as well, the narrated audio tour tells it at each stop: a one-time purchase per tour, with the intro and stop 1 free to try.
New in town for three days, or lived there for ten years and never walked the old quarter properly. Both get the same route and the same chance to meet someone on it.
There are more than 280 tours in over 100 cities so far, from old towns and waterfronts to food walks and film locations, and the list keeps growing as new routes are recorded.
All in the free Walk With Me app, and the intro and stop 1 of every tour are free to try.

These tours aren't a checklist of sights. They're made to be walked slowly, headphones on, eyes on the city.
Each story is told where it happened. The app chimes when you reach a stop, one tap starts the story, and the stretch between stops is yours to take in at your own pace.
We choose every route and every stop ourselves and shape each story with care, so the time you have in the city goes to the places most worth seeing.
Every walk is better with someone beside you, so if you can bring a friend, we really hope you do. That's why one purchase covers everyone you invite: they join your tour free.
Every city here also has a narrated audio walking tour. Buy it once, download it, and tap to hear the story when the app chimes at each stop, while you keep your eyes on the street.
Explore audio walking toursA walking tour is a planned route through a city on foot, with its stops in a set order. You can follow it on your own with a map, hear the story at each stop as an audio tour, or join a professional guide who leads it in person on a fixed date.
One afternoon in Lisbon is enough to learn how the lanes of Alfama climb, fork and dead-end every fifty meters. Most of what any tour gives you is the order: someone has already worked out which lane leads to the viewpoint and which one sends you back down the hill. That part is the same in all three kinds of tour. What changes is how much you're told along the way, and whose clock you're on.
A self-guided route is the cheapest and the loosest. You start when you like and stop for lunch when you like, but you only learn what the signs on the walls tell you. An audio tour keeps that freedom and adds the story, which matters most at places that look like nothing until someone explains them, a plain doorway or an empty square. A guided walk is the only one where you can ask a follow-up question, and a fixed start time, a group and a higher price come with it.
In the Walk With Me app, the first two overlap. Start any of our tours without buying it and the whole route and every stop appear on the map, so it works as a free self-guided walk, and the narration is the part you pay for. Walks led by local guides show on the same map as gold pins. They're new and only run where a guide has scheduled one, so most cities don't have one yet.
Walk With Me is free on iPhone and Android, with more than 280 narrated tours in over 100 cities. In the app, every tour's introduction and first stop play free, and the rest is a one-time purchase with no subscription. On this page, the tour cards play a 30-second sample, so you can hear a narrator before you download anything.

I really like the idea. Seems like I'm the first walker in my city, but the concept is exactly what I wanted.

This app helped me leave the house and touch some grass, for real for real.
