A walking game gives an ordinary walk something to chase: a colour to find, a rival to outpace, a quest to finish before you get home. Some need nothing but company. Some live on your phone and keep score for you.

I really like the idea. Seems like I'm the first walker in my city, but the concept is exactly what I wanted.

Switch on the Hex layer and start a walk, and the fog lifts around you as you go. Bank 4,000 steps inside a hexagon to put your name on it, pool steps with friends to claim one together, and keep walking back through so nobody out-walks your price.

Snap a photo on your walk with the in-app camera and post it as a round. Everyone drops one pin where they think it was taken, and when time is up the closest guess wins 25 XP.

Race your friends on steps. Pick the target and how long it runs, then it's first to the finish, or the most laps by the deadline. Everyone fills a bar toward the same flag, so you always know who to catch.

Walk a chain of real places near you and collect XP at every one. Follow numbered pins on the map, or solve a riddle from Rex to find each hidden spot.

Pick a shape, from a heart to a lightning bolt, drop it on the map and fit it to the streets. Then walk it: your GPS line is the drawing, and you get a match score at the end.

A compass points to a hidden real place nearby. No pin, just the direction and the distance. Walk until it gets hot, and the place reveals itself when you arrive. Find all three for 150 XP.

A team step relay for your pack, your friends or your walking buddy. You share one target, only the baton holder's steps count, and after 500 steps you pass it on.

Roll a colour, head out and photograph anything that matches it. Every photo is checked for the colour before it counts, and the first player to hit the photo target wins.

Every step counts toward a monthly ranking, and the walking challenges put your country and your friends on the same board.

Any game you play while walking: a scavenger hunt on your street, a word game with a friend, or an app that turns your steps into rankings, quests and races.
The best walking games need no equipment at all. Play I Spy or twenty questions with whoever is next to you. Pick a colour before you leave and hunt for ten things that match it. Flip a coin at every junction, heads left and tails right, and see where your neighbourhood takes you. Build a story one sentence per person, one block per turn. Keep a scavenger list of small things, a red door, a dog in a coat, a street musician, and race to spot them first.
What a phone adds is a running score. Your steps get counted automatically, so every walk you take feeds a bigger game that is still going when you get home. That is the part a pen-and-paper game cannot do, and it is where Walk With Me comes in.
In Walk With Me, your steps enter live rankings: a World board you can climb daily or monthly, plus Friends, Countries and Packs views. You can send cheers to walkers on the World board, and every day's steps are capped before they count, which keeps the board about consistency rather than one heroic day.
Rex, the in-app coach, hands you daily and weekly quests scaled to your step goal. Finishing one earns XP, and XP builds your level, so a good week is something you can watch rise rather than just a streak you are afraid to break.
Pair up with a walking buddy and you can run a friendly step race, sprint or laps, up to four weeks long. You keep a joint streak, trade a once-a-day wave, and can even wager XP on keeping the streak alive. It is the closest thing walking has to a standing game night.
Walk Packs make it a team sport: a small group of up to five with a shared weekly step-goal bar and its own chat. When the pack hits its weekly goal, everyone's steps for the week convert to Social Steps and the whole pack earns bonus XP, so the game rewards showing up for each other.
