A coach that knows your week
Rex is not a chatbot bolted onto a step count. He sits inside your steps, sees how the week is going, and nudges accordingly.
Talk it through with Rex
Open Steps, tap Progress, and Rex is there to talk about your walking. Ask him how the week looks, why the weekend dipped, or what a sensible target would be for tomorrow, and you get an answer grounded in your own numbers rather than a generic tip sheet. The chat is powered by Claude, so it reads like a conversation instead of a menu of canned replies. When a walk would help, Rex can suggest one and offer to create it, which turns a vague intention into something sitting on the map with a time attached.
Quests that pay out in XP
Rex hands out daily and weekly quests, small concrete targets sized for an ordinary week rather than a heroic one. Clear a quest and you earn XP, and XP builds levels on your Power Score, so a run of decent days becomes something visible that climbs. It is a simple loop, but it changes the question you ask yourself at six in the evening from whether you can be bothered to whether you want to finish the quest. Most days that second question has an easier answer.

A morning nudge and a debt you can repay
Rex sends a morning nudge, a short prompt that lands before the day fills up and the walk gets crowded out, and you can switch it off whenever you like. Miss your goal anyway and the optional steps debt keeps an honest note of the shortfall, which you can pay back on a better day instead of writing the whole week off. Your step history shows the pattern over time, so you can see whether the nudges are working and decide how hard you want Rex to push.
He remembers, until you ask him not to
Rex keeps context between chats, so the goal you mentioned last week or the busy stretch at work you warned him about does not need explaining again every morning. That memory is what makes the advice feel personal instead of generic. It is also yours to wipe: a single switch makes Rex forget everything he has learned about you, and the next chat starts from a blank page. A coach that remembers you and a privacy control that actually empties the drawer, both in the same place.
