The walk starts right at the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol most people picture when they think of Berlin, then heads over to the Reichstag Building with its glass dome catching the light. From there the route brings you to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a field of concrete slabs that the narration handles with the weight it deserves.
Next up is Gendarmenmarkt, one of the prettiest squares in the city with twin domed churches facing off across the cobblestones, followed by Bebelplatz, where the narration tells you about the square's difficult past. You'll pass Berlin Cathedral with its huge green dome before the route winds down.

Tiergarten

Walking here you will pass joggers, families on picnic blankets, and quiet corners where the city noise fades away almost completely. The tree lined avenue leading to the column offers one of the most classic photo spots in Berlin. It is a great place to slow down after a morning of sightseeing near the Brandenburg Gate.
Museum Island
This UNESCO listed island in the Spree River packs five major museums into a walkable cluster of neoclassical buildings, with grand staircases, columned facades, and the striking dome of Berlin Cathedral rising just beside it. Even if you skip the museums, walking the riverside paths and bridges around the island is worth it for the architecture alone. You will cross picturesque little bridges and pass boat tour docks along the water. It is one of the most elegant, history dense stretches of walking anywhere in the city.
East Side Gallery
This is the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall, now covered floor to ceiling in vivid murals painted by artists from around the world after the wall came down. Walking its length along the Spree River is a moving, colorful experience that mixes street art with real history in a way few places manage. You will recognize famous images like the Trabant bursting through concrete and the fraternal kiss mural. It is a powerful, easy riverside walk that connects naturally to a stroll along the water.
Spree Riverside
Walking along the Spree gives you a completely different side of Berlin, with converted warehouses, floating bars, and riverside beer gardens filling the paths that hug the water through neighborhoods like Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. You will see kayakers paddling past, cyclists on the riverside trails, and locals lounging on the grassy banks in summer. It is relaxed and a little bohemian, a nice contrast to the grand monuments in the city center. Following the river for even a short stretch shows you how much everyday life in Berlin happens right on the water.
